Boundaries

San Rafael Hills is located on the Southwest part of Pasadena, just south of the 134 Freeway.  The boundaries are loosely as follows: Colorado Boulevard on the north, Avenue 64 on the east, and the Highland Park- Pasadena border on the southwest. 

Allure of Neighborhood

Some of the most appealing attributes of this neighborhood have to do with views and privacy.  The elevation of this neighborhood gives many of its residents an opportunity to live with some fantastic views that overlook the San Gabriel Valley.  Its location is such that it offers isolation from the adjoining neighborhoods.  The steep and windy streets detract traffic as commuters search for the path with less resistance.    

As can be expected, sometimes one has to pay a good price for stunning views.  The kind of persons most likely to live here are medium to high income earners, those looking to raise a family, and those that like their privacy, yet need to be close to city living.    

The uniqueness of this hillside community make for a secluded and peaceful environment for the most part.  The homes in this neighborhood are well maintained with a few “earthy” houses dispersed throughout; homes with heavy vegetation and lush landscapes.

Traffic throughout San Rafael Hills is light and limited to its residents.  The 134 Freeway is nearby and makes for easy commuting.    

Shopping and dining is not very close.  The Eagle Rock Plaza along Colorado Blvd at the west end, offer plenty of mall shopping.  Nearby Eagle Rock has several trendy eating spots along Colorado Blvd as you make your way towards the plaza.     

When it comes to entertainment, your best bets will most likely be Old Town in Pasadena, only a short drive away, or the many nearby golf courses such as Annandale Country Club and Brookside Golf Course.

Significant Architecture

Many of the homes in San Rafael Hills are a collection of modern, contemporary and contrasting, ranch-style homes.  The higher end homes tend to maximize the space that faces the landscape views of the terrain.  Sloping driveways and terraced stairways are very commonly found in the architecture of the houses here in San Rafael Hills.
