Linda Vista and Annandale

Boundaries

Located on the hills of the north western part of Pasadena, west of the Arroyo Seco. Linda Vista is bordered by Oak Grove Drive to the north, Linda Vista Avenue to the east, Colorado Boulevard to the south, the Pasadena-Glendale border to the west.  The Annadale area is just north of the 134 Freeway, bordered on the northeast by Linda Vista Avenue, and The Annandale Country Club on the west.

Allure of Area

Homes built here offer privacy from the neighboring towns and some of the most spectacular views of the San Gabriel Valley and the Rose Bowl. This neighborhood is sought after because of its seclusion from the "hustle and bustle" of the city, yet its proximity to freeways and entertainment such as Old Town Pasadena and Downtown Los Angeles, make it a great place to live and play.

High income earners and wealthy residents make Linda Vista their home.  It is considered one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in Pasadena, probably only comparable to the Madison Heights neighborhood. Residents will have a range of occupations and businesses in the arts and entertainment industry and scientists working at nearby Jet Propulsion Laboratory or CalTech.

This hillside community is very serene and peaceful with few residents and steep roads. The terrain in the Linda Vista neighborhood allows for the seclusion and privacy of its residents.

The traffic is almost entirely composed of resident traffic. The only main traffic artery is due to Linda Vista Avenue on the east side of the nieghborhood. All other streets and private roads are accesed usually by local residents.

Most homes in Linda Vista are luxury houses and estates. The views make the real estate in Linda Vista very desireable and subsequently, the turnover rate is low. The homes here are well maintained, as one would expect, and the upkeep and maintenance can be costly especially for the added features of hillside homes.

There are no immediate shopping or dining establishments in the area. The Linda Vista/Annandale Association is very active in fighting efforts that will commercialize the area. The quality of life desired by Linda Vista residents is that of a residential feel and businesses are not readily allowed to enter the area. However, there are many options nearby; the Eagle Rock Plaza along Colorado in Eagle Rock; The Paseo Colorado and the South Lake District in Pasadena offer a variety of dining and shopping experiences.

The Rose Bowl Aquatics Center, the Kidspace Museum, Rose Bowl events, the restaurants and clubs along Old Town Pasadena, the golf courses (Annandale & Brookside), the San Gabriel Mountains and its many trails, the Pasadena Playhouse, and the proximity to Downtown Los Angeles, appeal to all sorts of entertainment tastes and activites.

Neighborhood Association

Neighborhood Association: Linda Vista/ Annandale Association (LVAA). This association began in 1924 as the Linda Vista Neighborhood Association and then incorporated in 1930. During the 1970's, the Annandale community was added to the association. The mission of LVAA is to keep "its watchdog role on Rose Bowl-related matters, hillside development, zoning enforcement, and traffic, noise and other quality of life issues." (LVAA)
